The invitations

I designed our wedding invitations six summers ago. Trevor had a vision of two STRONG trees winding together; creating a canopy of safety and peace and shelter that could not be covered by one alone. They each cane from a place of strength, but made each other stronger still. I sat by the pool one day by the house he rented and painted these trees. The trees took 30 minutes or less. The calligraphy took several hours and multiple blotched trials. It felt so good to see them come together.

Confession: I really wanted to post/make something tonight and I’ve had no energy to create lately. I have so many creative ideas, but life with littles is proving difficult to make time to paint, or write, or not want to veg out when they are asleep. I WANT to cultivate their little hearts and their creativity. I want to see them and celebrate them. And there is so much to keep up with. I miss my other strong tree, my partner in creating an atmosphere of dreaming and adventure and safety. And sometimes I’m downright mad and feel sorry for myself. And yet I also still believe he is reaching out wide and telling a story of extravagance and love. And I’m so tired, but I also believe that I’m strong and well rooted, and supported still.
