Father's Day
Father’s Day: a day to celebrate rich and steady love. It has so many of us aching deeply. A deep ache, because we know internally what should have been. Because the design of family and fatherhood is so, so good. Some of us have laid our favorite fathers to rest, and miss their presence beyond anything that could be put into words. Some of us ache for fathers who have left, who did not know, or did not choose to know how to be steady and faithful. Some of us cry because, though our fathers were present, they did not know how to create safety and peace for us, and the wounds are still open.
The design is so good. Our Father God is the one from whom all families on earth are named after. Any good fatherhood, and love, and family are from His big heart. He is the original design. Creator and keeper, and sacrificial love giver. One who knows us through and through. Our hearts cry out to Him, because we know that we are from Him. And He is the restorer of all things, weaving healing and repairing relationship, and/or simply being our peace in the tension.
I pray that you have rest today, in the ache. That you feel secure in love, whether from a good or growing connection with your father here on earth, or the peace in your spirit connecting with the original Father.
