Fall at Moss Rock - original
11x14. Watercolor on Paper. 2021
So much glory and hope are boldly proclaimed by the trees in Autumn. Waving their colors to catch the eye as though it were spring they celebrated..Why do our hearts come awake as the air cools, and as the trees are alive around every corner, with new wonder that wasn’t there yesterday?.Don’t we know this triumphant display is a physical sign of dying? Of leaves that were green with life, before the foreshadowing of winter begins their end..But the trees glory in the end of this season. Their deep roots and life-sap know that what looks like death is not. That allowing these vital parts of them to fall does not mean that they too will die. They know that the sun will warm them again, when it is time. And so they stubbornly raise their arms, and shoot forth a display of beauty that will never be seen again, until next season.
